The title might be slightly misleading. No it's not about tiling window managers. It's about how scripting tasks can make life so much easier.
The Rule Of Three sums it up quite nicely:
The first time you do something you just do it. The second time you do something similar, you wince at the duplication, but you do the duplicate thing anyway. The third time you do something similar, you refactor.
